Engineered Injection Molding Materials
J&L Plastic Molding specializes in processing highly engineered injection molding materials with high performing mechanical and thermal properties. J&L Plastic Molding has vast experience with these engineered materials:

PPSU – Polyphenylsulfone
PPSU offers excellent impact and chemical resistance. The high heat resistance and excellent hydrolytic stability of PPSU make it an excellent choice for medical devices requiring repeated steam sterilization. PPSU can withstand more than 1,000 cycles of steam sterilization with significant loss of properties.
PPSU is inherently flame retardant. It is transparent and may be colored.

PEI – Polyetherimide
PEI offers elevated thermal resistance, high strength and stiffness, and broad chemical resistance. It is available in transparent and opaque custom colors. PEI is dimensionally stable over a wide temperature range. It is inherently flame retardant.

TPU – Thermoplastic Polyurethanes
TPU material bridges the gap between rubber and plastics. TPU is available in grades from the very soft and flexible to very rigid. Many types of TPU comply with FDA food-contact regulations and several meet the biocompatibility tests. TPU resins will bond to a variety of substrates to provide a soft-touch feel.
TPUs have high wear resistance and maintain flexibility over a wide range of temperatures. TPUs have excellent resistance to weathering, oils and greases.
TPE – Thermoplastic Elastomers
TPEs behave like thermoset materials but being processed as a thermoplastic injection molding materials offers a wide design range. The design range of TPEs allows it to be used in many industries and in many ways. It is often used to overmold. TPEs are a mix of Plastic Properties and Elastomeric Properties
TPE Plastic properties:- Continuous use temperature
- Tensile strength
- Tear strength
- Chemical and fluid resistance
- Over-molding substrates
- Lower service temperature limits
- Hardness
- Flexibility
- Compression set and tensile set
The combining of Plastic & Elastomeric properties allow for many grades of TPEs to offer solutions to a wide variety of design specifications.
PC – Polycarbonate
PC offers outstanding mechanical, clarity, electrical and thermal properties. PC allows for design versatility. Different options include scratch resistance, toughness, heat resistance, weatherability, biocompatibility and compliance with FDA and USP requirements. Additives allow PC to be flame retardant.
ABS – Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
ABS is a versatile material offering outstanding aesthetics, flow, toughness, dimensional stability, and high temperature resistance. A wide array of ABS grades offer high heat and medical compatibility. There are flame retardant options meeting regulatory standards.
