Scope: A leading global manufacturer of medical devices required a new Stopcock for a next general balloon shunt. J&L Plastic Molding was chosen to provide a Healthcare Molding solution.

The challenge for this healthcare molding project was to design and build Tooling to injection mold the Stopcock to specifications and budget.

Tooling
The Tool was sourced to J&L Plastic Molding’s Tooling Vendor. The Tooling Work and initial sampling were completed by J&L’s vendor. The Tool was to be shipped to J&L’s facility for production. J&L’s in-house Toolroom will handle all Tool Maintenance.
Tool Design: The Tool was designed by the Tooling Vendor. The 3D CAD Design of the Tool was submitted to J&L and approved prior to machining.

Tool Sampling: To prepare for the sampling of the tool J&L shipped the Polycarbonate material to the Vendor for the sampling process. After the toolmaking process was complete the Tooling Samples were submitted to J&L and approved.
Sampling at J&L: The Tooling arrived at J&L’s facility and was sampled. J&L submitted the injection molded samples and a Tool Qualification FAIR. The Tooling was approved for Production.
